SONA: Immersive Storytelling Festival

We’re now accepting submissions for SONA: Immersive Storytelling Festival 2026. This annual festival celebrates bold, original work in immersive and interactive media, bringing together creators from across disciplines who are exploring the future of storytelling through emerging technologies.
We welcome submissions of:
360° video and immersive documentary
Virtual reality (VR) experiences
Augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality projects
Immersive installations
Interactive or spatial audio-based storytelling
Experimental works that defy category
SONA is open to artists, filmmakers, designers, and creators at all stages in their careers. We especially encourage submissions from emerging voices and creators from underrepresented communities whose stories and perspectives help expand the field.

Selected works will be presented during the three-day festival through VR headsets, 360° projection domes, installations, and interactive exhibits. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in panels, workshops, and networking events alongside fellow creators, technologists, and industry guests.
Evaluation Criteria
All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of curators, artists, technologists, and academics. Works will be evaluated based on:
Originality – Fresh concept and unique story
Storytelling – Ability to engage audiences and convey a compelling
Technical Execution – Strong production and use of immersive tools
Immersive Experience – Depth and quality of the overall experience
You may submit up to two works completed after March 2025. Please ensure submissions are received via FilmFreeway by midnight on December 6, 2025. Submission fees apply, though fee waivers may be available on request for those with financial need.
